CCA is pleased to have provided its professional service and support to make Canon Photo Marathon (CPM) 2011, an annual photography competition organized by Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) and held on 2 Oct a carbon neutral event. CCA Chairman Mr Chong Chan Yau welcomed such inspiring carbon care initiatives from the business community of Hong Kong. “We are encouraged by the support of CHK that gave valuable contribution to low carbon ways of life,” he said while presenting CCA’s CarbonCare® Event Certificate to Mr Kevin Kobayashi, President & CEO of CHK.
CHK is committed to make its annual photography competition a net zero emission event. To offset the unavoidable carbon emissions from Canon Photo Marathon 2011, CHK has purchased carbon credits from the Sichuan Afforestation and Reforestation Project in China. As the world’s first carbon offset project to meet both the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) standard and Climate, Community, and Biodiversity (CCB) standards, this project makes significant contributions in climate change mitigation, biodiversity protection and local community development.
