Carbon Care Asia (CCA) held a one-day training workshop to introduce the latest total carbon management strategies and leadership models to the hospitality and facilities management sectors on 28 April 2009 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong.

The participants included senior executives from the Ocean Park and many well-established hotel chains, including the Marco Polo Hong Kong, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, InterContinental Hong Kong and Altira Macau. The senior management of several interior design companies and building contractors like Shui On also attended the workshop. The subjects scheduled for training were extensive, ranging from CCA’s unique Carbon Leadership model, corporate cultural change and communications strategy in leadership development, total carbon management, carbon labelling to innovation in renewable energy and carbon reporting.

To encourage cross-sectoral exchanges, CCA also offered three scholarships for this workshop respectively to an executive from WWF (HK), a trainer from the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions and a HKU PhD candidate currently researching on how to enhance the sustainability of Guangdong’s hotel industry.

Acting in the role model of carbon measurement, reduction and offset, CCA has made this event carbon neutral by purchasing Verified Emissions Reduction from a wind power project in China.
