Carbon Care Asia Executive Director, Dr Trini Leung, spoke at HKSF 2008 opening forum
At “On Becoming Civic: Civil Society Luncheon“, the opening event for Hong Kong Social Forum 2008, organized by Hong Kong Council of Social Service on 18 October 2008, CCA Executive Director Dr Trini Leung Wing-yue spoke about the need for immediate actions to build a low carbon living and economy in Hong Kong.
Climate change is impacting on business operations as well as the community. An urgent and concerted response is needed from both businesses and the civil society. Carbon Care Asia, being a supporting organization of the event, takes the first step by turning the closing event of Hong Kong Social Forum 2008 into a Carbon Care Event by measuring, reducing and offsetting the carbon emissions associated with the event. By taking concrete steps towards minimizing the event’s carbon impact, Carbon Care Asia hopes to raise the awareness about the climate change challenge and to create actual change in the way we conduct business, starting from how we organize an international multi-stakeholder event.
