“Catching the Green Bond Wave: Principles, Practice and Pitfalls”, a theme riding on the recent hot topic on green bonds, was the seminar CCA co-organised with The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA) on 15 March 2018 to explore how Hong Kong can catch the next wave of green bonds to capture new opportunities and how the financial sector can contribute to environmental and climate improvement while opening up new markets. Full house was recorded as more than 150 professionals including financial analysts, fund managers, bond issuers as well as senior business executives attended the seminar.
When addressing the seminar, Ir Albert Lai, CEO of CCA, gave an in-depth analysis on the recent development of green bonds, their current inadequacies and the future outlook. Based on his decades of experience in finance and investment, Mr Water Cheung, Chairman, Carbon Care Asia Pte Ltd; and Asia Pacific CEO, Stormharbour Securities, pointed out the many aspects of green bonds that need attention from the issuers, the investors, the analysts and the verifiers. They then shared their views with the audience and other speakers and panelists, including Ms Gloria Lu, Senior Director, Infrastructure Ratings, Asia Pacific, S&P Global Ratings and Ms Ivy Lau, General Manager, Climate Bonds Initiative China Office. Mr John Sayer, CCA Director, acted as the moderator of the panel discussion, during which questions were raised by many keen participants.
