CCA co-organised a webinar with the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (NUS CGIO) on 28 July 2020 to introduce to companies the key issues surrounding climate change. Entitled “Introducing Climate Strategy and Carbon Management for Business Leaders”, the webinar was attended by 98 participants from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and other parts of Asia.
Mr John Sayer, Director of CCA, opened the webinar with the science of climate change and touched on key international agreements such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. He then elaborated on market-based tools to mitigate climate change and spoke about Hong Kong and Singapore’s plans for the transition to a low-carbon economy. The webinar concluded with reflections on how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted businesses and the sustainability lessons business leaders can draw from it, among which is the need for companies to address environmental, social and governance risks.
The information in this introductory webinar will form the basis of a forthcoming executive development programme (EDP) at NUS Business School jointly developed by CCA and NUS. More details of this programme and the date will be announced when they are available.
