Second Briefing held for CarbonCare® Label 2015 (2015 年 08 月 18 日)

The second briefing for CarbonCare® Label 2015 was held on August 18, with great thanks to KPMG, our venue sponsor. The theme of this year is “Carbon Solutions in Action”, which echoes the global call by COP21, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Paris this December. Hong Kong businesses and organisations are urged to explore and implement all viable actions to reduce carbon emissions.

The briefing was well attended by representatives from the senior management of over 30 enterprises, government departments and public bodies. In his opening remarks, CCA Chairman Mr Chong Chan Yau spoke on “Moving into the Low-carbon New Normal“ and stressed the importance of facing and tackling the climate change challenge whose impact is getting more and more overwhelming worldwide.

To coincide with the launch of CarbonCare® Label 2015, CCA will introduce a new category of label, CarbonCare® Action, as a recognition to those companies / organisations which have implemented new and concrete measures in carbon reduction. Miss Chloe Mok, CCA Senior Sustainability Consultant, gave the audience a detailed briefing on the eligibility criteria of this new label category and the procedures of applying / renewing for CarbonCare® Label 2015.

During the solutions sharing session, Mr Harvey Wong, Director of Engineering of InterContinental Hong Kong, shared the hotel’s experience and achievements in implementing various carbon reduction schemes and measures in his presentation entitled “The Low-Carbon Journey for Business”. In addition, Mr Bill Yam, Sales Manager of Carbon Care InnoLab, explained why switching to LED lighting can be one of the low-carbon solutions for business and organisations.

Carbon Care Asia was also honored to have invited The Hon. Kenneth Leung, Legislative Councillor, as our special guest. Mr Leung spoke on the importance of complying with ESG reporting, which has been proven to have positive effects on corporate growth, risk management and brand building.
