Climate Finance Asia at Asia Clean Energy Forum 2026
Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2026 is one of the most significant gatherings of clean energy leaders in Asia and the Pacific, bringing together more than 1,500 participants from over 60 countries. The forum is being held from June 8–11 at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Headquarters in Manila.
At the event, Prof. Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary, Chief Economist of Climate Finance Asia (CFA), presented in two sessions on mobilizing private capital for distributed solar PV and storage and shared findings from CFA’s study on how to accelerate the coal power transition in Asia.
The discussion highlighted that accelerating coal transition requires aligning policy, finance, and plant-level realities. Governments create investable pathways, public finance or MDBs absorb early risk, and private capital scales retirement and clean replacement capacity. These financing solutions are critical to accelerating the energy transition amid rising energy security concerns and coal rebound trends in parts of Asia.
