Mr Water Cheung has a strong background in global investment banking. He is currently the Senior Partner and CEO, Asia Pacific at StormHarbour Securities, an independent merchant banking partnership with 200 professionals in London, Geneva, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Copenhagen.
In the last two decades, Water has joined various banks including The Royal Bank of Scotland as the Treasurer and Head of Emerging Markets in Asia. Prior to that, Water joined DBS as the Head of Regional Derivatives and Credit Products. Concurrently, Water also led DBS’ Global Debt Capital Markets business, sponsoring more than 15 REIT listings in the Asia region under his supervision.
Water is a regular columnist in the Hong Kong Economic Journal and Ming Pao. Water is also an Executive Board Member of Treasury Market Association (TMA), an industry body sponsored by Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
Chan Yau co-founded the CarbonCare Innolab (CCIL) in 2014 and is now the Board Advisor. Prior to overseeing CCIL, Chan Yau served in the Hong Kong Government. He went on to become an Executive Director of Oxfam Hong Kong and a member of the Board of Directors of Oxfam International. Thereafter, he joined the University of Hong Kong as the Director of Student Development for its Centre for Development and Resources for Students.
Chan Yau is the ex-President of the Hong Kong Blind Union and was a member of the Education and Publicity Subcommittee of the Council for Sustainable Development, an advisory committee to the Hong Kong SAR Government on sustainability issues.
For his outstanding service to the Hong Kong civil society, Chan Yau was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1995 and received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 1991. He was also named one of the “Leaders of 2011” by Sing Tao Publishing Co Ltd and an Honorary Fellow by the University of Hong Kong.
John has a background in sustainable finance, climate change, human development and corporate governance policy. He has served on the advisory body of the UN Global Compact on corporate conduct and as a Stakeholder Council Member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Stakeholder Council as well as the GRI Council’s Capital Markets Discussion Group. John has served on the Board of the Ethical Trading Initiative helping major corporations develop socially responsible supply chain policies.
As Director of Carbon Care Asia, he worked on green and sustainable finance standards as well as the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement Targets into corporate strategy and reporting.
He has strong experience in professional sustainability training: workshop developed and delivered for HK Institute of Bankers, Treasury Markets Association, HK Institute of Certified Public Accountants, HK Independent Non-Executive Directors Association and leading universities in Hong Kong and Singapore. Also the Certificate in Green and Sustainable Finance Course development and delivered under the HK Monetary Authority Support Scheme.
John holds a Master of Letters in Development Studies (University of New England). He has published research focused on business-NGO relations and corporate social responsibility.
Alan To is a seasoned sustainability and ESG strategic marketing leader with nearly two decades of experience across the full spectrum of the sustainability ecosystem—from carbon-intensive industries and global sustainability consultancies to ESG data solutions for financial institutions and sustainable finance management. He has driven strategic growth at leading organizations including S&P Global, ERM, Lloyd’s Register, and Bayer.
As Regional ESG Marketing Director at S&P Global, he spearheaded award-winning initiatives across Asia, Pacific, Middle East & Africa, earning the company’s first-ever ESG accolades in the region. At Bayer, he led US$100M sustainability investment projects in China, advancing eco-commercial plant development.
Recognized as a Sustainability A-List Leader 2025 by Eco-Business, and nominated at Spirit of Hong Kong Award 2020, Alan is also a passionate social innovator. He co-founded two social enterprises—Yum Cha Together (得閒去飲茶) and Aromafunapy, and has spent over 15 years mentoring youth and promoting social enterprise education in Hong Kong. He serves on the vetting panel of the HKSAR Government’s SIE Fund and is a frequent university speaker on sustainability and social innovation.
Dr Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary, an associate professor of economics, brings with him over a decade of experience in teaching, research, consulting, and advisory roles within the fields of energy economics, policy, and finance. He has been involved in instruction at prestigious universities in Japan, including Tokai University, Keio University, Waseda University, The University of Tokyo, and numerous others across Asia. In 2022, he was listed on Clarivate’s list of Highly Cited Researchers (the World’s top 0.1% of researchers). In 2023, he was honored with the Medal and Commendation for Science and Technology by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. This recognition celebrated his exceptional contributions to research in the field of renewable energy financing.
Dr Taghizadeh-Hesary has garnered recognition as a leading global scholar in green finance through multiple bibliometric studies. He serves as the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management. Additionally, he holds roles as an Associate Editor or Board Member for several other scholarly journals. He is also an editor for a book series focused on Energy Transition, Carbon Neutrality, and Sustainability. With a prolific research portfolio, Dr Taghizadeh-Hesary has authored more than 300 academic journal papers and book chapters. Furthermore, he has edited 22 books covering a wide array of subjects, including green finance, energy policy, and economics, small and medium-sized enterprises’ finance, and Asian economics. Dr Taghizadeh-Hesary has demonstrated his leadership capabilities by leading and participating in numerous research, capacity building, and training (CBT), and consulting projects for international organizations, financial institutions, and governments from diverse nations. He holds a PhD in economics from Keio University.
Mr. Thomas Lau is the Strategic Advisor of Climate Finance Asia who provides strategic advice to the board. He is also the Responsible Officer of United Gain Investment Limited, a licensed corporation authorized to conduct regulated activities under Type 4 (Advising on Securities) and Type 9 (Asset Management) of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. He is also a partner of the United Gain (Shenzhen) Fund Management (LP), established in Qianhai, which was the first wholly foreign-owned limited partnership under the Qualified Foreign Limited Partnership (QFLP) pilot program in Shenzhen. The fund focuses on private equity investments in China.
In 2004, Mr. Lau founded Jolmo Capital Limited (JCL) and served as its Executive Director and Responsible Officer until 2021. JCL was a Hong Kong licensed corporation engaged in Type 4 (Advising on Securities), Type 6 (Corporate Finance) and Type 9 (Asset Management) activities. His previous roles include serving as a director at Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen stock code: 300094) and as a member of the supervisory board at Zhuhai Winbase International Chemical Tank Terminal Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen stock code: 002492).
Additionally, Mr. Lau is an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Baguio Green Group (Hong Kong stock code: 1397). He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee and holds the position of Honorary Treasurer of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China Ltd.
Mr. Lau earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hong Kong and an MBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a member of both the CFA Institute and the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts. Furthermore, he holds the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing and is a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) of the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS).
Toby Cheng is the Manager, Sustainable Finance Analysis of Climate Finance Asia (CFA), leveraging a decade of expertise in environmental sustainability and ESG advisory. He is proficient in research, modelling, and data analysis.
Toby worked with clients and stakeholders spanning diverse sectors, such as financial services, properties and construction, energy and utilities, automobile, aviation, manufacturing, consumer discretionary, etc. His financial clients included investment banks and securities. Notably, he crafted the first sustainability roadmap for the largest main contractor in the regional construction industry, setting benchmarks for local sustainable practices.
Toby managed sustainability projects in Carbon Care Asia (CCA), serving key clients and listed companies. He supported client’s disclosure of climate-related risks and verification of sustainability performances for sustainability-linked loans. He has been in charge of studies and programmes in Business Environment Council (BEC), covering government environmental policies, driving carbon reduction and disclosure of local companies. Toby commenced his environmental career in consultancy, focusing on air quality and noise impact assessments of infrastructure, plants, and building projects, as well as environmental monitoring and auditing, emission control solutions, green building and others.
Before joining the industry, Toby worked at Oxford University Press, where he acquired skills in editing and content development. Toby received an MPhil and a BSc, both from The University of Hong Kong. He has completed the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Training Course.
Winnie Ng is a globally experienced assurance practitioner and a financial and risk management leader. In her roles as the Chief Financial Officer with Save the Children and prior senior positions with UBS AG Hong Kong, Royal Bank of Canada, CIBC, Ernst and Young Canada, and KPMG Hong Kong for the last two decades, Winnie is instrumental in driving strategy development, operation transformation, risk analysis and management, compliance and corporate governance oversight.
Winnie is a holder of Certified Public Accountant in Canada, US and Hong Kong, Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified ESG Analyst and Certified Sustainability Practitioner with engagements in sustainability reporting and framework, social impact assessment, sustainable finance and incubation programme on ESG Innovation.
Donald Eubank is a Senior Consultant at Climate Finance Asia and the lead of the Secretariat for the Facility-level Just Transition Working Group (F-JTWG). F-JTWG is convened by CFA to explore practical ways to integrate Just Transition best practices into financing the transition at facility-level to renewable energy.
Donald is an experienced strategic planner whose career spans the IT, finance, media and environmental services industries in Asia. He has worked with and for start-ups and multinationals, including VIA Technologies NetSuite, and Lehman Brothers, launching new business services, product lines and divisions.
As cofounder of Read the Air, a specialist advisory firm, Donald has acted as a key advisor to organizations that seek to create corporate value from implementation of ESG, Sustainability and the SDGs principles and practices. In this role he has developed sustainable business and corporate decarbonization strategies, backed by an understanding of each organization’s unique nature and the need to embed sustainability knowledge across various functional roles.
In 2020, Donald cowrote with Trista Bridges the book “Leading Sustainably—The Path to Sustainable Business and How the SDGs Changed Everything” from Routledge and was a contributor to “The Handbook of Climate Change Leadership in Organisations” (Chapter 16, Sustainable Goal Setting for Climate Action: What Leaders Value Defines How They Take Action) from Routledge (2023).
As part of his sustainable business practices, Donald co-founded the Sustainability Roundtable at Temple University, Japan Campus’ International Business Studies. He has been a guest lecturer at the Ban Ki-moon ESG Academy, Waseda Business School and Hitotsubashi ICS, and is an advisor to the Value Research Center at Doshisha University. Donald organized the Disruptive Inclusive Innovation forum on Impact Investing with Sir Ronald Cohen at Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), has been a four-time panel judge for the Global Corporate Sustainability Awards, and is a regular speaker at high-profile sustainable business events and contributor to sustainability publications.
Winnie So is a seasoned investment professional with 19 years of experience in asset management. She focuses on sustainable investing, equity portfolio management, and multi-asset strategies within the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout her career, she has effectively managed billions in assets for pension funds, mutual funds, and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
As a former Executive Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Credit Suisse Asset Management, now UBS Asset Management, Winnie played a pivotal role in evolving Asia and China equity funds into SFDR Article 8 strategies, successfully integrating ESG principles into core investment processes. Her dedication to responsible investing is reflected in her multiple ESG credentials, including CESGA® and the FSA Credential, and her expertise in ESG integration, sustainable finance strategy, and climate-related risk.
Winnie inspires through her thought leadership, engaging in public speaking and sustainability consulting with organizations such as Climate Finance Asia and Asia Research Engagement.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a CFA Charterholder, Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and certified in family office advisory. Based in Singapore, Winnie continues to drive progress in investment, advisory, and sustainability, making a meaningful impact on the future of finance.
Edmond has worked in various international banks and financial institutions in HK and Singapore, including Japan Leasing HK ( Aircraft Leasing ), UOB Singapore (security syndication & treasury), Deutsche Bank Singapore (Financial Institutions), Belgian Bank HK (Merchant Banking), LTCB Asia (Bonds and FRNs arranger), HypoVereinsbank HK (Corporate Banking).
For the past 20 years, Edmond has worked for an Austrian banking group, Raiffeisen Bank International AG, as Chief Representative of their HK Representative Office and was instrumental in setting up Raiffeisen Bank International HK Branch in year 2012 and designated as the Chief Executive of the Branch.
Edmond has been a board director of the HK Austrian Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years. He is a co-founder and managing partner of a HK-driven impact fund, Gravity Capital Partners, and an advisor of CU Alumni Charitable Foundation. Edmond graduated from the Chinese University of HK in 1986 and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Herman has over 20 years of experience in corporate banking, bond issuance and fund management, focusing on industries such as real estate development, energy and petroleum, pharmaceutical manufacturing and shipping. Over the years, he has arranged syndicated loans for multinational companies. During the bond issuance process, he led the global issuance of fixed income products at different credit grades, including the world’s first issuance of RMB bonds.
Herman believes that climate change is directly related to global warming, and carbon reduction is the only way to solve this global problem.
Herman holds a BA in Urban and Regional Studies from the University of Lethbridge, Canada, and a Diploma in Finance from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a Registered GHG Carbon Auditor under the Hong Kong Institution of Certified Auditors.
Noah is an Associate Consultant at Climate Finance Asia specializing in sustainable finance. He has experience in ESG strategy, sustainability reporting, and climate finance instruments, and has contributed to projects on decarbonization planning, nature-based solutions, and stakeholder engagement across Europe. He has also held roles in Japan and Taiwan, where he gained practical experience in financial analysis.
He holds a BA in Economics from Keio University and an MBA in Sustainable Finance from the Sustainability Management School.
Ryoga Wada is a Junior Analyst at Climate Finance Asia, focusing on sustainable finance and energy transition. He supports key research projects in collaboration with Professor Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary and Climate Finance Asia team, related to green bonds, climate finance, and environmental policy, contributing to evidence-based approaches for low-carbon development.
He holds a BA in Political Science from Keio University. He has also studied environmental politics during an exchange year at the University of British Columbia in Canada.

Laurence joined Carbon Care Asia in August 2021 as Chief Marketing Officer responsible for leading the development of the company’s strategies and overall management.
He has over 20 years of experience in the banking and asset management industry. He held various senior business development and investment related positions at ICBC International Asset Management, Bosera Asset Management (International), Pictet Asset Management, BNP Paribas Asset Management, JP Morgan Asset Management and Standard Chartered Bank.
Laurence holds a Bachelor degree in Finance from The University of Hong Kong. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
With 20+-year experience in the financial management industry with more than 10 years at top ranking investment banking firms (JP Morgan, Citi and Credit Suisse), Cedric has been managing fixed income portfolios and analyzing corporate bonds during the most part of his career. He is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Society in Singapore and has successfully completed the dual degree Executive MBA program of INSEAD in Singapore and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
He has been developing investable projects in the climate finance space in South-East Asia by supporting issuers to issue green bonds aligned with global frameworks, including the taxonomy of the Climate Bond Standard. He’s also been a consultant for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific on Green Finance.
Over the last 3 years, Cedric has led the effort of Climate Bonds Initiative to develop green bond markets in ASEAN, working with regulators, verifiers, financial institutions and issuers on their plans to develop green bonds. He’s been a trainer in the renowned CBI Green Bond Training seminar, as well as a regular presenter in webinars across the region for CBI, ADB and other development institutions.
Andrew is a Professor of Engineering Practice at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering in HK University of Science & Technology. He has over 30 years of full-time industrial experience, working as the Regional Director of Corporate Technology Partnerships and Senior Regional Manager in Process Engineering for Air Products & Chemicals Inc. in Asia, which is the world’s largest hydrogen manufacturer. He strategized, planned and managed the corporate intellectual assets; supported the company’s project, engineering and manufacturing activities in the region. Prior to Air Products, he worked for BHR Group Ltd in the UK and E I du Pont de Nemours Co, Inc. in USA and Singapore.
Andrew’s research interests cover multiphase fluid flow and mixing; process and equipment design; energy and environmental systems; product engineering and commercialization. He has authored more than 70 technical papers and reports, and is the editor of three chemical engineering journals, a frequent journal paper reviewer and conference chair. Andrew has a Bachelor of Law from Peking University, a Master and PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Leeds and University College of London; and a MBA from the Open University of HK. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of Institution of Chemical Engineers.
Recently, Andrew has also been appointed as a member of the Technical Working Group for Climate Bonds Initiative and is involved in the setting up of standards development for Basic Chemicals. He is also a Director of CarbonCare InnoLab, an NGO dedicated to the mitigation of the impacts of climate change through community education and engagement.
Before joining CCA, Ringo was the Co-Founder and Director of APAC SEP Ltd., a social innovation company which focuses on supporting social startups. He is also the Co-Founder of 350HK, the local chapter of the global climate movement 350.org.
Ringo was awarded the Hong Kong Outstanding Young Person in 1984, and became Chairman of the Outstanding Young Persons Association (TOYPA) in 2009. From 2013 to 2019, Ringo was Chairman of TOYPA TRUST. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Climate & Environment Committee of TOYPA; Hon Treasurer of Golden Age Foundation; Executive Committee Member of the Design Council of Hong Kong; Advisory Member of the Hong Kong Design Institute; and a Director of Leap Community. Ringo also advises a number of social enterprises.
Before becoming a social entrepreneur, Ringo had over 30 years of experience in the industrial sector, assuming top management roles. He has also received numerous international awards in industrial design and packaging.
Ringo obtained his Master’s degree in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, and is fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and Chartered Society of Designers in the UK.
Lilian is a Certified™ Professional Facilitator and Assessor of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF). Over the past decade, she has been working with organizations and teams across the Asia Pacific to facilitate strategic planning, consensus building, leadership development, employee engagement, idea generation and team dialogues. She has partnered with both in-house and external organizational development consultants to design and cascade system / cultural change programmes. Her clients span a range of sectors, including energy, financial services, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, government and non-profit organizations.
Since 2013, Lilian has been reaching out to communities in Hong Kong to share her facilitation methodologies and skills through community dialogue projects, workshops and facilitation practice groups. She is the founding chair of the International Association of Facilitators – Hong Kong, volunteering her expertise to mentoring practicing facilitators and enhancing public awareness on the important role played by dialogues and facilitation. Between 2015 and 2017, Lilian supported the Jockey Club CarbonCare Open Innovation Lab (COIL) Project with professional facilitation at various workshops and InnoFest activities to incubate green start-up teams.
Pascal is a sustainability and renewable energy expert with a PhD in Renewable Energy Management and Master’s Degrees in International Management and Accounting and Finance from the University of St. Gallen and the London School of Economics. He’s a Swiss and Dutch national based in Hong Kong.
Pascal helps clients drive sustainability projects in the public and private sector with his consultancy firm Pascal Vuichard Sustainability. He is also a part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and teaches at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland and the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Technology in Germany.
Pascal’s expertise centres around building new business models as well as social acceptance for sustainable technologies like renewable energies and electric mobility, including by way of public policy interventions. Previously, he has gained interdisciplinary professional experience with an NGO active on improving water efficiency in South Asia and an international IT company in Switzerland. He has also served on his home state’s parliament and on the executive council of a mid-sized Swiss city.
Alfred is a Chartered Architect by profession. He is the Managing Director of architectural, planning and real estate consultancy practice, Brock Carmichael Asia and a partner of Brock Carmichael Architects LLP in UK. Alfred has also taught in various university schools in Liverpool and Hong Kong.
Alfred has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and project management, and has worked globally in Europe and Asia. Over the last decade, he has held senior executive positions in a number of real estate companies, looking after a number of development portfolios across Asia Pacific, Australasia, Europe and North America, and was responsible for acquisition, project feasibility, master planning, project finance, joint-venture partnership formation, project management and implementation, as well as sales, marketing and disposal. Alfred has expertise in developing eco-tourism destinations, resorts, retail and hospitality attractions including the award-winning Club Med Yabuli ski resort in Harbin, China, which has been voted by the Time Magazine as one of “Asia’s Top 15 make-over resorts”.
Shelley, a dedicated sustainability professional, has over 15 years of experience in corporate sustainability, environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology in Hong Kong, China and Singapore. From 2016 to 2019, Shelley was Chief Executive of the University of Edinburgh Hong Kong Centre for Carbon Innovation responsible for driving innovation business development and research projects in Hong Kong. Prior to this, she helped establish the sustainability function of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and has been in charge of delivering the Club’s strategic sustainability performance and reporting for seven years.
Shelley holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Philosophy degree in Civil Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She is a Certified Carbon Audit Professional (CAP), a LEED Green Associate, a BEAM Professional and a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor teaching at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the HKUST.
Shelley actively engages with non-governmental organizations and professional associations. She is currently a Director of the Hong Kong Association of Energy Engineers (HKAEE) and a Committee Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) Environmental Division. Previously, Shelley was the President of the Association of Energy Engineers (Hong Kong Chapter), a co-opt member of the Hong Kong Green Building Council Public Education, and a core member of the Hong Kong delegation to COP13 held by the UNFCCC in Bali in 2007.
