
“Towards a Low-Carbon Era” was the theme of this seminar co-organised by the China Business Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Professional Commons and the Hong Kong People’s Council for Sustainable Development. Carbon Care Asia’s Board Chairman, Mr Chong Chan Yau, was one of the moderators for this seminar held on 14 Feb, 09 at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.Two of CCA’s advisors were invited to speak in their special areas of knowledge and expertise. Mr Plato Yip, Chairman of the Hong Kong People’s Council for Sustainable Development, told the seminar about the various opportunities for ‘green investment’ in a low-carbon economy. Mr Albert Lai, in his capacity as Chairman of the Professional Commons, explored this worldwide trend of going low-carbon, and its implications and challenges to Hong Kong and its future policy directions.
First in a “Low-Carbon City” series, this seminar was also attended by NGO project officer and high-level representatives from the Research Centre for Sustainable Development of China’s Social Sciences Academy and the Environmental Economics & Policy Centre of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences. Its aim has been to provide a platform for in-depth discussions on the concept and implementation of a low-carbon economy both globally and in China.
