First Briefing held for CarbonCare® Label 2015 (23/06/2015)

 

The first briefing for CarbonCare® Label 2015 was held on 23 June, with great thanks to The Hong Kong Management Association, one of our venue sponsors & supporting organisations. The theme of this year is “Carbon Solutions in Action”, which echoes the global call by COP21, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Paris this December. Hong Kong businesses and organisations are urged to explore and implement all viable actions to reduce carbon emissions.

The briefing was well attended by representatives from the senior management of over 30 enterprises, government departments and public bodies. In his opening remarks, CCA Chairman Mr Chong Chan Yau spoke on “Moving into the Low-carbon New Normal“ and stressed the importance of facing and tackling the climate change challenge whose impact is getting more and more overwhelming worldwide.

To coincide with the launch of CarbonCare® Label 2015, CCA will introduce a new category of label, CarbonCare® Action, as recognition to those companies/organisations which have implemented new and concrete measures in carbon reduction. Miss Chloe Mok, CCA Senior Sustainability Consultant, gave the audience a detailed briefing on the eligibility criteria of this new label category and the procedures of applying / renewing for CarbonCare® Label 2015.

During the solution-focused sharing session, Mr Jerome Laboulais, Business Development Manager of Greenware Limited, introduced his company’s latest remote monitoring devices which help organisations measure, manage and save energy consumption. Another guest speaker Mr Yee Wai Lok, Manager of Evergreen Environmental Technology Co., Ltd gave a detailed explanation on how a smart liquid desiccant can help save energy and improve the indoor working environment.

CarbonCare® Label 2015 is now open for application and renewal by all companies, public bodies and non-government organizations on or before 30 Sept 2014. A second briefing session on the same subject will be held on Tuesday, 18 Aug 2015 at the KPMG Office in Causeway Bay. Registration by organization representatives can be done either online or by calling CCA office on 2541 5020.
