Beyond the Myth of Boundless Growth – an Economy for Sustainable Development

Following the recent call by Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary to ‘seek boundless development’ and ‘foster economic growth’, this issue argues that development and growth can never be ‘boundless’ as we are bound by what scientists have long reminded us — the planetary boundaries which include our clearly finite supplies of air, fresh water, healthy oceans, minerals and fertile land.
