Corporate Climate Leadership Roundtable
Inspiring Actions
As the curtain of 17th Conference of the Parties (COP 17) for the United Nations Climate Change Conference opens in Durban, Carbon Care Asia (CCA) has hosted a roundtable discussion in Hong Kong for corporate leaders to share their vision and insights on inspiring actions to combat climate change together as global citizens.
CCA has invited Ms Sun Shan, the Executive Director of Shan Shui Conservation Centre in China as our honorable keynote speaker to share her insights into opportunities and possible corporate action in the context of China’s climate change policy under the 12th Five Year Plan. She gave illustrations on realization of the standards and benefits of forestation carbon offset projects and shared Shan Shui’s on the ground experience in partnering with corporations in developing these projects. Ms. Sun flagged up the importance of imagination and personal values as the driving force of sustainability actions.
Following the insightful presentation, the roundtable of corporate leaders discussed their vision and actions in meaningful initiatives. Meeting demands of China’s target to reduce carbon intensity by 40 -45% by 2020, and capturing opportunities in the new global low carbon economy, the leaders have shared ideas and experiences on government role, policy intervention, increasing public and customers awareness, engaging stakeholders, joining up carbon care actions, and impactful carbon reduction actions which can generate multi-benefits for business, poverty alleviation, climate change, and biodiversity.
