With full support from Carbon Care Asia, the TOYPA Youth & CarbonCare New Year Charity Gala, set against a green and low carbon theme, was successfully held at the Regal Riverside Hotel. To achieve the zero-carbon target, the organiser invited CCA to collect all related carbon emission data and measure the event’s carbon footprint. Those emissions that could not be reduced were eventually offset through purchasing carbon credits from the Afforestation and Reforestation Project in NW Sichuan.
The Outstanding Young Persons’ Association, as the organiser, has also added various climate friendly elements to echo the green and low carbon theme of this charity gala. Participants were encouraged to take public transport when traveling to the hotel. Recycled paper was used for publications distributed at the gala. CCA Chairman Mr Chong Chan Yau, an Outstanding Young Person himself, was invited to share on stage how low carbon menus are designed. Various well-known artists from Hong Kong’s entertainment sector, who are also outstanding youth awardees themselves, attended the gala to help promote its carbon care message. Among them were Ms Miriam Yeung, Ms Kay Tse, Mr Anthony Lun and Mr Michael Hui.
